Good news from Utah! Utah Bill HR 0315 Passed to provide Medicaid Reimbursement for Recreational Therapy Services for multiple service settings including: —Behavioral health programs —Youth residential treatment facilities —General acute hospitals —Intermediate care facilities —Assisted living facilities —Skilled nursing facilities —Psychiatric hospitals —Mental health agencies —And other settings that provide mental health services This is the first time recreational therapy (RT) services have received Medicaid reimbursement in above settings (primarily “stay facilities” like hospitals and residential settings) in the country. Medicaid waivers for Recreational Therapy services started in 2024 and the first approved RT Medicaid reimbursement happened on Friday March 29th of this year! We look forward to hearing updates from Utah as this new funding source continues to positive impact clients across the state!
