Congrats DC! DC is going to become our newest licensed District for Recreational Therapy!
The District of Columbia (DC) has achieved RT licensure!
We extend our gratitude to ATRA member, Charles Bond, for his efforts and dedication
that led to this accomplishment.
You can read the bill HERE on page 23 that includes recreational therapy as
requiring a license to practice in DC!
There will be details to follow on the processing of licenses and
please contact Charles Bond with questions.
Dawn DeVries, ATRA's Director of Advocacy & Legislative Affairs presented at Social Prescribing USA's Community of Practice meeting. Dawn shared how as a profession, recreational therapists utilize elements and aspects of social prescribing with various groups of people with disabilities and various conditions, using different interventions from nature, coping, and arts.
